Prisoner Tells His Story To Prevent People Drinking And Driving In Unique Way

In 2010, 26-year-old Kris Caudilla crashed into a deputy while drunk, killing him. He was driving the wrong way when his vehicle slammed into the sheriff deputy’s car. Caudilla was charged with a DUI and manslaughter and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He claims there is not a day goes by that he doesn’t think about the life he took, and his family. In a way to give back to society, Caudilla is trying to carry a message to people outside of prison in an effort to prevent another life being taken as a result of drinking and driving.

The people at We Save Lives teamed up with Caudilla to ask bar-goers a very important question: What if your decision to drink and drive was staring right back at you? In the following video, the inmate sits facing the cameras in the correctional facility where he is being housed in Florida. At the very same time, people out partying at a busy nightclub across the country in California are about to get a surprise they never expected.

Bar patrons are in total disbelief when a stranger in the mirror starts talking to them. “Is this a joke?” Sadly, it’s not…. Caudilla proceeds to tell these unsuspecting patrons his devastating story…

Take a good look in the mirror. Should you be driving tonight?”

Caudilla feels that if he stops just ONE person from driving home drunk that night, he’s doing his part to give back for the heartache he caused to so many.
